BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has urged the advisors of the interim government to ensure that political unity does not break after the fall of the fascist government.
Salahuddin Ahmed made this call while speaking to reporters after a meeting with the advisors on Thursday.
Earlier, at around 4:30 pm, an all-party meeting with the interim government led by Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus began at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital regarding the July Uprising Declaration.
Salahuddin Ahmed raised the question of whether the July Declaration was politically and historically necessary five and a half months after the uprising.
Salahuddin Ahmed said, “Discussions have been held with all political parties regarding the July Declaration. Political party leaders have presented various suggestions. We have asked the interim government whether there was any need for the July Declaration five and a half months after the July Uprising. If there is, then what is the political importance, historical importance and legal importance because, I have also advised to keep an eye on the fact that there should be no division in the nation based on the declaration.”
He said, “If this declaration is a political document or a historical document, then we respect it. However, everyone concerned should be included in its formulation. Decisions should be taken after consulting and discussing with everyone.”
Representatives of various political parties including Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Gano Samhati Andolan, Gano Odhikar Parishad, Anti-Discrimination Students' Movement, Jatiyo Nagorik Committee were present at the all-party meeting along with BNP.
