The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had summoned the Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Pranay Verma to protest the BSF's installation of barbed wire fences on the Bangladesh-India border violating the international law. In continuation of this, Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in person on Sunday afternoon and explained the construction of the BSF's barbed wire fence.
He explained about this at a briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday.
Pranay Verma said that discussions have been held to combat smuggling and illegal infiltration at the border. Bangladesh and India are determined to keep the border crime-free. Therefore, India expects Bangladesh's cooperation in building the fence on the border.
Regarding the construction of barbed wire fences on the border, the Indian High Commissioner said, "We have an understanding in building barbed wire fences on the border for security. There is communication between the border guard forces of the two countries, BSF and BGB, in this regard. We hope that this understanding will be implemented through cooperation in combating crime on the border."
