Our main responsibilities are genocide trial, reforms and elections: Law Adviser

Adviser for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Asif Nazrul said, “Our main responsibilities are to hold trial of genocide, execute reforms and hold elections. People have high expectations from the post-revolutionary government. That is why people have high expectations from us. There is no problem criticizing our work. But when it comes to personal character, it is understood that an attempt is being made to rehabilitate the fascist.”

“A conspiracy is being made in the country on the script of India. If this government is successful, we will be able to hold trial of fascist Sheikh Hasina. For the success of the sacrifice of the student people, we will have to stand against the defeated fascists. Starting from students, unemployed, employees, rickshaw pullers, everyone together protects us from the hands of witches. If our movement fails, Bangladesh will turn into Kashmir. Our job is to protect this freedom earned in exchange for the blood of these sacrifices of the student people,” he said.

Dr Asif Nazrul said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion titled 'Minaret of Remembrance - Mass Uprising 2024' at the Tofazzal Hossain Manik Mia Hall of the National Press Club on Saturday afternoon.

Managing Director Mahbub Morshed presided over the discussion, while Chief Advisor's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam and writer Rakhal Raha also spoke in it.

Referring to himself as a soldier of on the street movement who participated in the July-August Uprising movement, Asif Nazrul said, "I still get goosebumps after watching the footage of the brutal massacre of the July-August Uprising. We cannot forget the contributions of youth like Abu Sayed, Mugdho, and Rafsan. We owe them a lot. It is a matter of thinking how much we are able to fulfill the expectations of the martyrs who sacrificed themselves."

He also said that after 1971, the fascist government of that time formed the Rakshi Bahini and killed thousands of people and famine began in the country. And in the last 15 years, fascist Sheikh Hasina turned the entire country into a dark hell of murder. Sheikh Hasina's 15 years of looting, oppression, torture and fascist behavior have turned the entire country into a terrible horror. I feel very sad when the friends of the dictatorship say that we were better before, forgetting what Sheikh Hasina did in the past.

“Have they forgotten about oppression and torture?” he questioned.
