Admission to government and private schools will be determined through a lottery system. This year's admission policy includes changes to the freedom fighter quota; the provision for grandchildren has been removed, and only the children of freedom fighters are now eligible for admission under this quota.
The Ministry of Education has taken steps to eliminate certain quota systems, specifically the Gonobhaban and Colony Quotas. This change was confirmed by an additional secretary from the Ministry of Education and a representative from the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSE).
Insiders reveal that for years, children of officials and employees at the Gonobhaban Government High School in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka, were granted admission through a 100% quota system. However, this year, the Ministry of Education has decided to cancel the quota-based admission process.
Motijheel AGB Colony has a quota system at Motijheel Ideal School and College, a prestigious educational institution in the capital. Children of government officials residing in the colony have long benefited from this unwritten quota. However, the quota will be abolished in the upcoming admission season.
An unnamed additional secretary from the Ministry of Education stated that allegations of irregularities in the quota-based admissions are not new. In line with other schools, it has been decided that candidates will now be selected through a random lottery system. Both the Education Department and Teletalk have been notified of this decision.
