Four Bangladeshi-Americans have achieved a huge margin victory amidst the heroic victory of the Republican Donald Trump in the US presidential elections.
All of them were elected as state level representatives in the US. However, so far, no Bangladeshi-American has been elected in US Senate or Congress.
Republican candidate Abul B Khan has been elected for the seventh term as the New Hampshire representative, and Sheikh Rahman (Democratic) has won for the fourth term from the Georgia state. From the Georgia state, another Democrat’s Bangladeshi-American candidate named Nabilah Islam has been elected for her second term. And, MD Masudur Rahman (Democratic) has won the election for his second term from the Connecticut state’s district-4.
Abul B Khan, a Pirojpur-born-American, has secured 67 percentage of casted vote in Rockingham, while Sheikh Rahman, a son of Kishoreganj, secured 67.6 percentage of vote from the Georgia state senate district-5. Nabila Islam, Noakhali-born US politician, has won from Georgia state senate district-7, securing 55 percentage of vote. MD Masudur Rahman, Chandpur-born, secured his seat with a 64.8 percentage of casted vote.
Expatriates are celebrating the victory of Bangladeshi-Americans in the election.
Bangladeshi community in the United States including Washington University of Science and Technology vice-chancellor Abubokor Hanip, Pennsylvania’s Melbourne city mayor Tayub Mahabubul Alam, Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s national executive committee member Giyas Ahmed, FOBANA chairman Atiqur Rahman, Biswa Bangla 24 TV chairman and CEO Alim Khan Akash, Bangabandhu Foundation president Abdul Kader Mia, senior vice-president Md. Fazlul Haque, South US Awami League president M Fazlur Rahman, secretary Dr Muhammad Ali Manik, director of Long Island chamber of commerce Akhter Hossain Badal, president of America Bangladesh Alliance MA Salam, Bangladeshi American Advocacy Group president Joynal Abedin, Texas Democratic Party refugee country chairman Rahim Nihal and others congratulated them for their victory in the election.
In the latest election, a significant number of Bangladeshi-Americans with enthusiasm practiced their right to vote than the previous time. They made Trump president as a part of their protests against Israeli attacks on Gaza and other middle-east countries. Expatriates believe that under the prudent leadership of Trump, they will soon be relieved from pain and economic crisis.
