Syeda Rizwana Hasan, advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change said that the interim government has announced an initiative to ban polythene bags.
She made these remarks during a briefing on Sunday about the ban on polythene and the requirement to use jute packaging for products
The Advisor noted due to the high prices set by jute product manufacturers force people to resort to plastic and polythene. To effectively eliminate the use of polythene, it is essential to keep the price of jute bags reasonable.
She also stated that no polythene bags will be permitted in supermarkets.
Strict monitoring to ban the use of polythene bags will begin in all markets starting November 1.
Futhermore, Syeda Rizwana Hasan mentioned that stringent measures will be taken to halt the production of polythene.
