In a case related to the attempted murder of Hridoy Mia, a leader of the Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Jubodal and assistant cook at Bangaliana Bhoj in Mirpur, the court has ordered the imprisonment of former Member of Parliament Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Suman.
This decision came after the conclusion of his remand.
On Sunday morning, after the hearing, Dhaka's Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Sefatullah denied the bail application and ordered the imprisonment of the accused.
Earlier, after five days of remand, Barrister Suman was presented in court, where the investigating officer requested to keep him in custody.
His lawyers applied for bail, but the prosecution opposed the request. Following hearings from both sides, the court denied the bail application and ordered Suman's imprisonment.
Barrister Suman was arrested from Mirpur, Dhaka, at midnight on October 21.
On October 22, the court ordered a five-day remand for him.
According to the allegations, during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on July 19, Hridoy Mia attended a rally in Mirpur-10 after performing Jummah prayers.
The rally was attacked by leaders and activists of the Awami League and its affiliated organizations, who opened fire and threw cocktail bombs. Hridoy was shot during the incident. He is the Senior Vice President of the Madhabpur 10 No. Hatian Union Jubodal in Habiganj.
A case was filed at the Mirpur Model Police Station on September 23 in connection with the incident, naming Barrister Suman as the third accused.
