The police arrested Awami League (AL) leader and former planning minister MA Mannan in Sunamganj on Thursday night.
He was apprehended from his residence in Shantiganj upazila around 10:30pm, confirmed Superintendent of Police (SP) AFM Anwar Hossain Khan.
The ex-minister has been arrested in a specific case, the SP said.
MA Mannan, former Awami League lawmaker from the Sunamganj-3 constituency, has been taken to the SP office after arrest, he added.
On 2 September, a case was filed with Sadar police station against Mannan and 98 others over attacking students on 4 August during the Anti-discrimination Student Movement.
The SP said the police would produce Mannan before a court and seek remand for him.
