Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Syed Ahmed Maroof on Thursday afternoon met with the Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh Md. Jashim Uddin at the foreign ministry here.
The High Commissioner congratulated the Foreign Secretary on assuming his new responsibilities, said a foreign ministry’s press release, reports BSS.
The Foreign Secretary conveyed his thanks for the congratulatory message from the Pakistan Prime Minister to Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser.
He also discussed the background of the recent mass uprising and priorities of the Interim Government.
The two sides discussed about holding the next round of Foreign Secretary Level Consultations.
Strengthening cooperation in the areas like trade, commerce, enhancing people-to-people contacts and the Rohingya issue also featured in their discussion.
Both the sides underscored the importance of regional organizations and in this context discussed about tapping potentials of SAARC.
