Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen on Tuesday paid a courtesy call on the Minister of State for Women and Children Affairs Fazilatun Nessa Indira at her office at Bangladesh Secretariat in the capital, reports BSS.
During the call on, they discussed various issues including women's employment, development, empowerment and equality in Bangladesh.
Fazilatun Nessa Indira said that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman guaranteed the equal rights for women in the constitution in 1972 and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of the father of the nation, has taken various steps for women development, empowerment, equal rights of women and employment creation in the country.
He also said that Bangabandhu visited China during the International Peace Conference in 1952 and the development of China at that time was mentioned in his book 'Amar Dekha Naya Chin'.
They also urged the entrepreneurs of both the countries for building of capacity through information communication technology, training in various trades and assistance in new projects.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has formulated many targets to increase women's participation in ICT up to 30 percent by 2030 and 50 percent by 2041.
Fazilatunnesa Indira sought China's support and partnership to achieve this goal of the government.
Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen expressed keen interest for working together on women's development, women's empowerment and job creation and child development in Bangladesh.
At this time, Secretary of the Ministry Md Hasanuzzaman Kollol was also present.
