President M Abdul Hamid on Monday asked all concerned of Bangabhaban, including its officials, employees and staff to work sincerely to maintain the dignity and image of the country's highest office, reports BSS.
"Every officer or employee should not behave with outsiders in such way that taints the dignity and prestige of the Bangabhaban," he told as he was accorded a pre-iftar reception by the officers and employees of the Bangabhaban as part of the ceremony for ending his-10-year tenure here as the President of the Republic.
Terming the Bangabhaban as the "highest office" of the country, the Head of State hoped that all concerned of the Bangabhaban would try hard to maintain the image of this office.
Referring to various activities of his tenure at Bangabhaban, President Hamid said, "Although I am the President, I use to consider myself as a representative of the common people of the country."
"I consider the post of President only a responsibility. In the last 10-long years, I have never undermined any employee, my personal staff, servants or employees with the eye of negligence."
The President expressed sincere thanks to all the officers and employees for their heartfelt cooperation in the office of President.
"My door is always open for you. Meet me whenever you want," he added.
Civil and military officers and employees of Bangabhaban also presented several bouquets on the occasion.
Tenure of Abdul Hamid as the President for the second consecutive term will expire on April 23 next.
He will hand over the charge of the office to President-elect Md Sahabuddin as the 22nd President of the Republic through an oath-taking ceremony at 11 am on April 24.
President's Secretary Sampad Barua, Military Secretary Major General SM Salauddin Islam, Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin, Secretary (attachment) Md Wahidul Islam Khan and representatives of various levels of officials and employees of Bangabhaban spoke at the reception.
