Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder on Thursday praised the neighbouring country India saying it (India) stands by Bangladesh all the time as a genuine friend, reports BSS.
The people of Bangladesh will never forget the love of the Indian people that was demonstrated by giving shelter to about one crore people and providing medicines, food or services sometimes during the country’s Liberation War in 1971.
Sadhan said these while speaking at the 'India-Bangladesh Friendship Celebration' event at a Rajshahi hotel, organised by the Assistant High Commission of India, Rajshahi as the chief guest.
The minister mentioned that both the neighbouring countries are working to strengthen the friendship and confidence between Bangladesh and India.
Indian Assistant High Commissioner in Rajshahi Manoj Kumar said India supports Bangladesh in every good work.
The people of India helped gain independence standing with the neighbouring country in the Great Liberation War in 1971, he added.
