Power Division Secretary Md Habibur Rahman has assured the ongoing blackout across the country will end within Tuesday evening.
He said the electricity situation will be restored within one hour in the capital while it will light the whole country in the evening.
Habibur, however, could not tell the reason behind the national grid failure.
Meanwhile, the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) said the electricity supply will become normal at night.
The national power transmission grid failed at 2:05 pm – causing a blackout across Bangladesh, except in some parts of the north.
According to Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) and PGCB, the transmission line tripped somewhere in the eastern part of the country.
Only a few districts in the Rangpur division were out of the power failure, said a high official of PGCB.
