Chief Election Commissioner, AMM Nasir Uddin, said that the Election Commission is preparing for the elections according to the timeline set by the Chief Adviser, with the voter list update starting on Monday.
He said that the Election Commission does not wish to get involved in any political statements.
"We will operate within the boundaries of laws and regulations. Our aim is to ensure a free and fair game, where all players can participate freely. We want to create a level playing field for this purpose."
He made these remarks today (Sunday) morning at the Election Commission headquarters during a ceremony where UNDP handed over equipment for the voter list update process.
"We requested UNDP for assistance in the voter list process and they provided assistance very quickly. We seek their cooperation in the entire election process. Like us, they are also interested in seeing a fair election," CEC said.
The commission wants to create an environment for a fair election without getting involved in politics, CEC added.
UNDP Resident Representative Stefan Liller said that cooperation in the election will be determined through discussions with various stakeholders, and political parties.
During the event, the Election Commission received 175 laptops, 200 scanners, and 4,300 bags for door-to-door data collection as part of the voter list update process.
