Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Ahsan H Mansur said more women's involvement in financial activities and the labour force would bring financial independence and more development to the country.
He said this at the managers’ conference of the Karmasangsthan Bank at Biddut Bhaban in the capital on Sunday.
Dr Mansur said it is commendable that 36 per cent of the Karmasangsthan Bank's customers are women entrepreneurs, who are playing a special role in increasing participation in financial inclusion activities.
Finance Division Secretary Dr Md Khairuzzaman Mozumder had urged the banks to give loans to women entrepreneurs.
He said the active role of women in economic activities will strengthen their financial base and increase independence and social status.
