American warplanes have conducted multiple airstrikes against targets north of the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, after Yemen’s military claimed responsibility for a retaliatory operation on the USS Harry Truman in the Red Sea, Press TV reported.
Yemen’s al-Masirah television channel reported that four aerial raids took place in the al-Azraqeen area, during the early hours of Sunday.
The extent of human or material losses resulting from the airstrikes has yet to be disclosed.
The airstrikes came hours after Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the spokesperson for the Yemeni army, announced in a statement that the country’s forces had targeted the USS Harry Truman aircraft carrier “with a number of drones and cruise missiles” in the Red Sea.
Saree also warned “hostile forces in the Red Sea of the consequences of any aggression against [Yemen] during the ceasefire period in Gaza.”
