Cyber surveillance has been beefed up to prevent the spread of misinformation regarding the Pahela Baishakh celebrations.
Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) AKM Shahidur Rahman today (April 13) made the remarks at Ramna Batamul while talking to reporters on the security arrangements ahead of the Pahela Baishakh.
"Pahela Baishakh is an important occasion in our national life. Like every year, we will celebrate it with great enthusiasm in a joyous environment. RAB has taken extensive security measures in Dhaka and across the country," he said.
"Our motorcycle patrols, vehicle patrols, checkposts, observation towers, and intelligence surveillance are all in place," he added.
He further said: "We have taken all necessary measures to ensure the event is held smoothly and peacefully, in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, various cultural groups, public representatives, and the general public."
Across the country, 224 RAB pickup patrols and 122 motorcycle patrols will be active.
In addition, a total of 2,449 RAB members, including 413 in plainclothes, will be deployed.
All the previous festivals and occasions during the Interim Government were observed well in terms of festivity and security, he mentioned.
