5 hair care tips and tricks for dry hair

We have heard it quite often that just like our skin, our hair dries out too. While dry skin is irritable, dry hair is unmanageable and unappealing too. It is believed that hair will be lustrous, lively and manageable if they are moisturised regularly. But do we actually moisturise our hair enough, as much as we moisturise our skin? As the hair dries, it starts lacking strength and eventually leads to split ends or breakage. Dry hair is one of the reasons for hair fall too.

While you may have read many articles about the ingredients that best suit dry hair or home remedies for frizzy hair, let us see what are the easy, lifestyle changes and habits that can save your hair from losing natural moisture and give you the healthy, lustrous mane you always desired.

5 tips to moisturise dry hair

1. Avoid warm hair baths

How much ever you like those warm baths, they cause equal damage to your hair as they do to your skin. The skin and the scalp get dried out instantly as they lose the essential natural oils causing flakiness and irritation. Hair becomes more susceptible to breakage. It is advisable to take cold water baths to reduce hair damage, but lukewarm water baths can work just as well.

2. Invest in proper hair care products

Sulphates and parabens usually cause damage to your hair. They further damage dry, frizzy hair by stripping the hair strands and dehydrating them. So, while making any new investments in your hair care products, study the type of your hair, read out the ingredients of the products and then make wise purchases.

3. Avoid use styling tools or products

Hair styling tools and products often cause drying out of hair strands. Every heating tool, to some extent or the other, damages the hair. So, in case you have dry, frizzy hair, avoid chemical treatments or styling procedures at least till the time you manage to tame the frizziness. Also, using heat protectant serums, conditioners on dull, dry hair may help to regain the moisture lost.

4. Do not skip conditioners

Dry, frizzy hair needs deep conditioning. Shampooing the hair often dries out the hair strands while cleansing the scalp. It is vital to use hydrating conditioners to gain back the moisture lost. Apply ample conditioner on the lengths of the hair and let it stay for a while before you rinse it off with cold water. You can apply hair masks for greater hydration. Going for hair spa may also help you to tame the frizziness.

5. Go for regular hair trims

Did you know that split ends and dull, damaged tips can cause your strands to become frizzier? So go for those regular hair trims as a fresh trim will help you get rid of dull, lifeless ends and frizz. It will keep your hair smooth and healthy.

Besides these, regularly oiling your hair with hot hair oils, less frequent hair washes, proper care during humid days are a few of the easy ways to maintain dull, frizzy hair. We hope you find our list useful. Do let us know your experience in the comments section below.
