Bangladeshi expatriate Jahangir Alom from Dubai won Dh20 million in the latest Abu Dhabi Big Ticket draw held on Monday.
Jahangir got lucky with ticket number 134468, which he bought on February 11.
The 44-year-old shipbuilding industry worker has been living in Dubai for six years while his family remains back home. Over the past three years, he has participated in the Big Ticket draw, teaming up with a group of 14 friends to buy entries each month, Khaleej Times reported.
"I was deep praying when the call came in. When I stepped out, my friend broke the incredible news. Since then, I’ve been overwhelmed with joy. But what makes this win truly special is that it’s not just mine; it belongs to 14 others and their families too," shared Jahangir.
Adding to the special atmosphere of the draw, Ashik Patinharath, the grand prize winner from the February 3 raffle, made a memorable appearance. Exactly one month after his big win, Ashik had the honour of picking today's winner, a poetic gesture that added a special touch to Jahangir's Dh20-million win.
With his share of the winnings, Jahangir dreams of starting a small business in Dubai and sharing the venture with his friends. "I will definitely keep buying tickets. I hope my story inspires others to take a chance and be part of this incredible journey."
In March, one lucky ticket holder will win a staggering Dh15 million grand prize. Big Ticket is also giving away Dh50,000 each to 10 lucky winners during the live draw on April 3, 2025.
Additionally, customers who purchase two or more cash tickets in a single transaction between March 1 and 25 will have the chance to participate in the Spin-the-Wheel game. Four lucky winners will spin the wheel during the live draw on April 3, with guaranteed cash prizes ranging from Dh20,000 to Dh150,000.
The names of the four winners will be announced on the Big Ticket website on April 1, 2025.
