Jewellers have inflated the price of gold by Tk3,557 to Tk1,51,900 per bhori (11.664 grams) due to a hike in the price of pure gold in the local market.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting held on Tuesday.
The price of 22-carat gold will now be Tk13,023 per gram, and 21-carat Tk12,431 per gram, according to a press release signed by Masudur Rahman, chairman of the committee.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk10,655 a gram while that of traditional gold at Tk8,777 per gram.
New tariffs will come into effect on Wednesday, the release added.
However, prices of silver remained unchanged.
The price of 22-carat silver is Tk221 per gram, 21-carat Tk210, 18-carat Tk181, and traditional one is Tk136 per gram.
