Clare Hindle, founding Director of World Art Foundations, told Gallery Cosmos that many wonderful treasures here deserve a global stage and offer diverse ways to connect people, reports UNB.
She made the remark while addressing the Art and Architecture Dinner at the House No-23 in Baridhara of Dhaka on Monday, as chief guest.
Addressing the importance of art, Clare said, “Everybody, whether you're supporting artists, whether you're supporting museums, whether you're supporting communities that learn from the experiences held within, I feel that there's a lot of work to be done globally.”
She expressed her hope to work with Brihatta and Cosmos and any other foundations here.
Addressing the event, Nahar Khan, executive director of the Cosmos Foundation and Gallery Cosmos, said they have long been dedicated to supporting the arts and culture in the country.
“At Gallery Cosmos and Cosmos Foundation, we have long been dedicated to supporting the arts and culture in the country,” she said.
“We've served as a platform for both emerging and established artists, both from Bangladesh and beyond, through initiatives such as artists exchanges, workshops, and partnerships with global institutions,” she said.
Bangladesh has an incredibly vibrant and dynamic contemporary art scene, with artists continuously pushing boundaries, experimenting with new mediums, and telling stories that resonate both locally and globally, said Nahar.
Nahar Khan said Clare established the WAF membership programme which grew to 280 foundations across 48 countries.
Her (Clare) work in advancing leadership, particularly for women in the arts, is truly inspiring, and we're delighted to have her here with us in Bangladesh for the first time, said the executive director of the Cosmos Foundation.
“Clare, we're excited to engage and exchange insights, ideas and experiences with you and we hope that you have an extremely an incredibly fruitful and enriching experience in Bangladesh,” she said.
Gallery Cosmos Director Tehmina Enayet in her speech said Cosmos Gallery has been here for about like more than 30 years and they do all kinds of workshops.
“You know, all from all over the world, artists, they come and we have the exchange programme with so many countries with all the artists also,” she said, adding they support and promote art and artists.
Expressing pleasure, Cosmos Foundation President Dr Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury said, “Going to the events, fun events such as this is not quite folly, but very much a part of the lifestyle I've been brought up with.”
Those attended the event included Dutch Ambassador to Bangladesh Andre Carstens, Cosmos Group Deputy Managing Director Masud Jamil Khan, artists Jamal Ahmed, Bishwajit Goswami, Mahbubur Rahman, Taiyeba Begum Lipi, Shourav Chowdhury (Cosmos Gallery), and Faruk Sobhan, among others.
