Four days after the end of the Amar Ekushey Book Fair, Bangla Academy reported the total book sales.
On Tuesday evening, the Bangla Academy posted a related post on its Facebook page.
The Facebook post said, "Some confusion has been observed about the total book sales at the Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2025 organized by Bangla Academy. In the report given at the closing ceremony, the member-secretary of the fair's management committee stated that Bangla Academy's own sales volume as of February 27 was about 6.1 million. Many have deliberately or unconsciously spread confusion by assuming that number as the total sales volume of the fair. Even some national dailies and television channels have irresponsibly presented such news.”
The post also said that the fair's management committee asks for sales reports from publishers. It has asked for them this time too. This time, a total of 721 organizations have been participated in the book fair. Out of these, 18 organizations are from media and healthcare. The remaining 703 are publishing organizations. This time, after much effort and time, we have obtained the book sales figures of a total of 351 organizations. The total sales of these institutions are about Tk 20 crore. Adding the possible sales figures of the remaining organizations, the total sales can be approximately Tk 40 crore.
At the end of this fair, the total sales of Bangla Academy stood at Tk 64 lakh 76 thousand 393. It is to be noted that the book sales figures of previous years and this year at the fair are estimates based on the information received.
