Pakistan has said Iran has a right to defend itself in the face of the Israeli regime's terrorism, Press TV reports.
Speaking at a weekly briefing in Islamabad on Friday, Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch expressed concern about the evolving situation in the West Asia region, particularly Israel’s genocidal war in the Gaza Strip over the past 10 months and the regime’s assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran late last in July.
“Iran has every right to defend itself,” she said, calling for accountability for Israel's actions.
Haniyeh was assassinated on July 31, while he was in Tehran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian.
Iranian political and military leadership, including the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and President Masoud Pezeshkian, have vowed to avenge Haniyeh's blood.
The Pakistani government declared one day of mourning following the assassination.
