Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahusaid the country’s military will “destroy Hamas”, and once the war is over no one will have to live “under Hamas’s tyranny”.
Israeli Chief of Staff Lieutenant-General Herzi Halevi suggests Israel has no intention of curbing its deadly air strikes on Gaza, reports Al Jazeera.
“We want to bring Hamas to a state of full dismantling,” Halevi said in a statement. “We are well prepared for the ground operations in the south.”
Israeli military spokesperson Rear-Admiral Daniel Hagari said the military was “ready and determined” for the next stage in the war, and is awaiting political instruction.
Hamas said 140 Palestinians killed in new Israeli air strikes in northern Gaza’s al-Shati refugee camp as well as in southern cities of Rafah and Khan Younis.
Two elderly women released by Hamas on Monday have been reunited with their families.
Indonesian Hospital, the largest medical facility in northern Gaza, was left in total darkness overnight as fuel ran out, but power has since been restored.
France’s President Macron arrives in Tel Aviv on a visit intended to show France’s “full solidarity” with Israel.
