The first US plane carrying a load of munitions for the Israeli armed forces arrived in the country in the early hours of Wednesday, the press service of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said, reports BSS.
"The first plane, loaded with US munitions, has landed in Israel. The plane with advanced ammunition landed at the at Nevatim Airbase this night. The munitions are intended for carrying out significant strikes and preparing for additional scenarios," the IDF press service said in a statement.
The Israeli military thanked the US for its support.
"Our common enemies know that cooperation between our armies is strong as never and is a key factor in regional security and stability," the statement says.
The latest round of tensions in the Middle East was sparked by the October 7 attack of Hamas militants on the territory of Israel. According to the latest reports, clashes and shelling have left some 900 Palestinians dead and more than 4,500 wounded, and over 1,000 Israelis dead and over 3,400 wounded.
Hamas said its attack was in response to the Israeli authorities' actions against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on Jerusalem's Temple Mount. Israel has announced a state of readiness for war and for a complete blockade of the Gaza Strip. Clashes erupted in the West Bank and there was an exchange of artillery fire on the border with Lebanon.
