This year’s death toll from dengue surged past 200 on Friday, according to the updated data of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Two more deaths were reported from the mosquito-borne disease in past 24 hours till Friday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the disease in the country to 201 this year.
During the period, 490 more patients were hospitalised with dengue fever.
Of them, 121 dengue patients were admitted in hospitals under Dhaka North City Corporation areas while 104 more were hospitalised in Dhaka South City Corporation areas.
Some 3,522 patients are receiving treatment in different hospitals across the country.
A total of 40,895 dengue cases have been reported since 1 January 2024.
In 2023, Bangladesh recorded 1,705 dengue-related deaths and a total of 321,179 dengue cases.
