The government will procure 1.1 crore litres of refined rice bran oil and 10,000 tonnes of lentils for the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) through the Open Tendering Method (OTM) at the local level. The total expenditure for this procurement is estimated at some Tk 273 crore.
The proposal was approved during a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Government Procurement held at the secretariat's conference room on Tuesday afternoon, chaired by Finance Advisor Dr Salehuddin Ahmed.
According to meeting sources, the government approved the Ministry of Commerce's proposal to purchase refined rice bran oil for TCB through the Open Tendering Method (national).
The recommended suppliers are Green Oil and Poultry Feed Industries, Majumder Products Limited, and Majumder Bran Oil Mills Limited. The price of each litre of rice bran oil has been set at Tk 162.50. Accordingly, the total cost for purchasing 1.1 crore litres of oil will be some Tk 179 crore.
Among the suppliers, Green Oil and Poultry Feed Industries will provide 20 lakh litres, Majumder Products Limited will supply 45 lakh litres, and Majumder Bran Oil Mills Limited will deliver 45 lakh litres of rice bran oil.
In addition, the government approved another proposal from the Ministry of Commerce to purchase 10,000 tonnes of lentils for TCB through the Open Tendering Method (National). The total cost for the lentils is estimated at Tk 94.23 crore, with the price set at Tk 94.23 per kilogram.
The recommended suppliers are M/S Madina Trading Corporation and M/S Payel Traders. Each of them will provide 5,000 tonnes of lentils.
