The state-run Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will restart truck sales of subsidized essential food items for low-income earners in Dhaka city and Chattogram city on Monday.
The subsidized sales program for poor people from all sections of society would soon be expanded to all the divisional cities and some districts, TCB said in a statement on Sunday.
Last month, the interim government limited the truck sale activities for poor households to only serve the TCB cardholders. Authorities would resume the subsidized sales just after a month to mitigate price pressures on insolvent consumers ahead of the holy month Ramadan in March.
Edible oil, lentil, sugar, chickpeas and dates would be offered for sale, the TCB statement read.
Each consumer can purchase maximum two-litre oil for Tk200, two-kilogram (kg) lentils for Tk120, two-kg chickpeas for Tk120, one-kg sugar for Tk140, and 500-gram dates for Tk155.
