Food inflation drops to 12.92% in Dec

Food inflation in Bangladesh stood at 12.92% in December, a slight decrease from 13.8% in November, according to the latest data from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

This reduction in food prices contributed to a drop in the country’s overall inflation rate, which fell to 10.89% in December, down from 11.38% the previous month.

October had seen the highest food inflation since July, when it peaked at 14.10% due to supply chain disruptions linked to anti-discrimination protests.

Meanwhile, non-food inflation in December was recorded at 9.26%, a marginal decrease from 9.39% in November.
