The four-day international trade expos titled “Garment Technology Show Bangladesh 2025 (GTB)” and “International Garment Accessories and Packaging Expo 2025 (GAP Expo)” are scheduled to commence on Jan 8 at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka.
The Bangladesh Garment Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGAPMEA) and ASK Trade and Exhibition Pvt Limited are organising the events.
The organisers anticipate participation from 500 exhibitors representing 25 countries, with the exhibitions spanning eight halls.
The expos will be open to business visitors daily from 11 am to 7 pm.
The inauguration ceremony is scheduled for Jan 8 at 11 am at ICCB.
Sk Bashir Uddin, adviser to the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Textiles & Jute, will be the chief guest.
Park Young-sik, ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Bangladesh, along with other industry leaders, will also be in attendance.
Md Shahriar, president of BGAPMEA, shared these details during a pre-event press conference on Sunday (Jan 5) in the capital.
He highlighted that over the past 21 years, the GTB has been the preferred platform for sourcing state-of-the-art sewing, finishing, embroidery machinery, and allied products from global technology providers.
Meanwhile, the GAP Expo has consistently showcased the latest innovations in garment accessories and packaging, featuring leading members of BGAPMEA.
The readymade garment (RMG) sector in Bangladesh is looking ahead to a promising 2025 following a challenging 2024, which tested its resilience. Industry insiders note signs of recovery in the global retail market, with Western buyers returning, buoyed by easing inflation in key regions such as Europe and the United States.
Despite a tumultuous year marked by political upheaval and labour unrest, the RMG sector achieved a 6.23% increase in export earnings, demonstrating resilience amid significant challenges.
“Against this backdrop, we observe that orders are picking up, and production capacities are being well utilised,” said Tipu Sultan Bhuiyan, managing director of ASK Trade & Exhibitions Pvt Ltd.
“Another emerging trend is the expansion and diversification into non-cotton garments, especially sportswear. This has increased demand for specialised machinery, which GTB will be showcasing. GTB has consistently unveiled the latest innovations in sewing, laundry, finishing, CAD/CAM, and embroidery. The global participation underscores the importance of Bangladesh as a growing market. After a period of stagnation, recent weeks have seen a surge in interest, reaffirming the potential of this market,” he added.
