State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury on Sunday said working on installing scanners at every gate of Chattogram port is underway for easing import-export activities.
The scanner installation work is also underway at Mongla port, he said while visiting the new mooring container terminal at Chattogram Port, reports UNB.
The state minister said Chattogram Port is being further upgraded. Patenga Container Terminal and Overflow Yard have been constructed.
Chattogram port is ready to handle the pressure of more ships, he added.
Besides, according to the agreement with India, Indian ships can use Chattogram port and from there goods can be transported to north-eastern states of India by road, said Khalid.
