Shahbagh Metro Rail Station will remain closed until 12 noon, while Dhaka University Station will stay closed for the entire day on Tuesday, Pahela Baishakh.
Md. Ahsan Ullah Sharifi, Deputy Project Director (Public Relations) of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), which operates and maintains the metro rail, confirmed the decision on Monday.
The authorities expressed regret for the temporary inconvenience caused to passengers.
On Pahela Baishakh morning, a New Year procession will be brought out from the Institute of Fine Arts of Dhaka University. Chhayanaut will also hold its traditional New Year programme at Ramna Batamul, drawing large crowds to the area, particularly around the university campus.
