The fourth Bangladesh Economic Census 2024 began here today aimed at gaining a detailed perception about the structural changes in the country's economy, reports BSS.
Commissioner of Rajshahi division Khandaker Azim Ahmed inaugurated the 17-day census activities at his office here. The slogan of the economic census is 'Orthanaitik Shumarite Tathya Din, Natun Bangladesh Binirmane Ongsha Nin'.
To mark the opening ceremony, the divisional and district level officials and others concerned brought out a rally from the commissioner office premises highlighting the significance of the census.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Khandaker Azim Ahmed said the census will provide accurate and updated insights into Bangladesh's economic structure and trends, playing a vital role in the country's overall development planning.
The main objectives of the economic census are to gain insights into structural changes in the economy over time, determining structure of non-farm economic activities.
On completion of the main economic census operations, they would be able to provide a report at the end of January 2025, Khandaker Azim said.
He informed that some 11,973 enumerators, who have been selected for this census, will discharge duties in all eight districts in the division for the economic census purposes.
