The fire at Secretariat Building was not an accident but a planned act, claims Nurul Haque Nur, president of the Gono Odhikar Parishad.
He made this statement while speaking to journalists during his visit to the burned building at the Secretariat on Thursday.
Nurul Haque Nur said that evidence of corruption from the previous government was stored in the offices of the adviser to the Ministry of LGRD and the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications. He added that the government should learn a lesson from this incident.
“Now is the time to digitize government documents and upgrade the fire service with modern equipment, moving away from outdated systems,” said Nur.
Nur also urged authorities to submit an investigation report without unnecessary delays, as seen in previous cases.
The fire broke out at Building 7 of the Secretariat in Segunbagicha, Dhaka, at 1:52 am on Wednesday night.
