A man was killed and another critically injured in a tragic accident early Sunday morning in Dhaka's Paltan area.

The incident occurred when a battery-run rickshaw was caught between a bus and a truck following a head-on collision, reports the Daily Star.

According to Md Arifullah, a sub-inspector at Paltan Police Station, the passenger of the rickshaw died instantly at the scene, while the rickshaw driver was left in critical condition and was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The identities of both the deceased and the injured driver have not yet been confirmed.

Witnesses reported the police that the accident took place around 5:00 am when a bus of Unique Paribahan and an onion-laden truck collided head-on, causing both vehicles to swerve aside. The rickshaw was crushed between the two vehicles during the collision

Police seized both the vehicles, but the drivers fled the scene, the SI informed.
