A 40-year-old man has been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in critical condition after allegedly attempting suicide following the murder of his two children in the capital’s Pallabi area.
Confirming the matter, Pallabi Police Station Sub-Inspector Md Majedul said that the incident occurred early Saturday at a house in Baigartek area of Pallabi.
The identities of the deceased, aged around 7 and 3 years, could not be known immediately. The father was identified as Ahad Ali.
“Ahad reportedly slit the throats of his two sons before attempting to take his own life. Police arrived at the scene and discovered him critically injured with a self-inflicted wound to his neck,” the Sub-Inspector added.
“Police have initiated an investigation to determine the motive and uncover the circumstances behind this tragic incident,” he furthered.
