A Dhaka court on Sunday granted a three-day remand for former state minister for industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder.
He was remanded in a case filed with Shah Ali Police Station over killing Jagannath University student Ekramul Haque during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider passed the order in the morning as police produced him before the court with a seven-day remand prayer, BSS reported.
Ekramul Haque was critically hurt by bullets when he was taking part in a protest rally in support of the anti-discrimination student movement in front of Shah Ali Mazar area on August 4 last.
He was rushed to Combined Military Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on August 14.
Ekramul's father Ziaul Haque filed a murder case with Shah Ali Police Station in this regard.
Earlier on early Saturday, Kafrul police arrested Kamal Majumder from a house at Gulshan.
He was accused in multiple murder cases filed with Kafrul and other police stations after the fall of Awami League government on August 5.
