The authorities have strengthened the security arrangements at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) to ensure security of all concerned.
“There are no lapses of security at the airport as several hundred Aviation Security Force, Armed Police Battalion (APBn) and Ansar members have been working here round the clock,” HSIA Executive Director Group Captain Kamrul Islam told media on Monday.
A good number of intelligence officials from different government agencies have also been working here for the same purpose, he said.
A total of 850 Air Force personnel under Aviation Security Forces have been engaged in ensuring safety and security of the outgoing and incoming passengers. In addition to the Air Force, the Aviation Security Force has 1,500 staffers who have been working in three shifts. Besides, there are over 1,000 Ansar members at the airport, he said.
The Aviation Security Forces have been working to ensure safety and security at the export and import zones of the airport, said Kamrul.
Meanwhile, Wing Commander Jahangir Hossain, Chief of the Airport Security Forces, told the journalists that they are fully devoted and committed to ensuring the safety and security of the passengers as well as the airport.
The concerned security personnel will perform their duty in four shifts instead of the existing three shifts for ensuring smooth functioning of the airport, he added.
