Commuters can ride on the metro rail on Fridays from this month, said managing director of the operating company on Saturday.
MAN Siddique, managing director of Dhaka Mass Transport Company Limited (DMTCL), said 25 per cent of the preparations have been completed, adding the date of commencing Friday operations would be announced soon, Daily Sun reports.
Mohammad Zakaria, additional project director of line-6, said his team is working on full swing to start Friday operations. The operations would be launched most likely on September 20, but he declined to confirm the date before all preparations are nearly completed.
MAN Siddique suggested the train would run in 15-minute intervals on Friday, like on regular operating days, and would provide the last trip at the usual 9:13 pm from Motijheel to Uttara.
However, Friday’s first trip would be delayed till 3:00 pm or 3:30 pm in the afternoon due to the expectation of low passenger pressure on Friday mornings.
