A three-member inquiry committee has been formed, headed by Deputy Commissioner (Gulshan Division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to investigate the shooting incident where a police constable killed his colleague in the Baridhara diplomatic zone on Saturday night, UNB reported.
The Committee has been given seven working days to submit its report, said Rifat Hossain Shamim, DC (Gulshan Division), who is also head of the inquiry committee. However, names of two others members of the committee could not me known immediately, the DC (Gulshan)
Earlier soon after the incident on Saturday night at the Baridhara place of incident, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun announced a thorough investigation into the shooting incident where Kawser, a police constable killed his colleague Monirul Islam.
The probe will rely on CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts, he said.
A heated argument between police constables Monirul Islam and Kawsar Ali supposed to be aguared at after 11:00 pm on Saturday night. During the altercation, Kawsar began firing indiscriminately, hitting Monirul in the chest and killing him instantly.
Sajjad Sheikh, a driver for the Japan Embassy who was nearby, was also injured in the shooting.
