Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Kumar Verma said the import and export between Bangladesh and India will increase three times if communication infrastructure increases.
He made the remarks while addressing a seminar titled “Multidimensional connectivity inside India and Bangladesh.”
Unnayan Shamannay arranged the seminar in the capital on Tuesday.
Bangladesh Bank's former governor Dr Atiur Rahman and Dhaka University professor Dr Delwar Hossain also addressed the seminar.
Speakers at the seminar said Bangladesh’s trade with South Asian countries could be elevated to $18.9 billion from $7.6 billion every year if multidimensional connectivity is established in goods transportation.
