Eight people including father and daughter have received burn injuries in gas pipeline explosion in Gendaria of the capital on Monday, reports Daily Sun.
The injured are grocer Abdur Rahim, 50, his daughter Mim Akter, 21, grandson Alif, 2, egg vendor Md Rashed, 30, Jagannath University student Mehdi Hasan, 23, clothe seller Ali Hossain, 30, pedestrian Sahera Begum, 65, and Md Sohel, 48.
They are admitted to burn unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) and Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (SHNIBPS).
According to sources, renovation work by a contractor of WASA damaged gas line in the area causing the explosion.
Tipped off, a team of Titas rushed to the spot to repair the line and bring the situation under control.
