A probe committee has been formed to investigate the source of the massive fire that broke out at the New Supermarket on Saturday morning, prepare a list of victims and determine the amount of damage.
An office order signed by DSCC Secretary Akramuzzaman revealed this information on Sunday.
The nine-member probe committee was formed with regional executive officer of the DSCC Region-1 Merina Nazneen as the convener and chief social welfare and slum development officer Akand Mohammad Faisal Uddin as the member secretary, reports UNB.
The committee has been asked to submit a report to the authorities within the next 3 days.
Earlier, a massive fire broke out at around 5:40 am on Saturday at New Supermarket, next to Dhaka New Market.
The fire was doused on Sunday morning around 27 hours after it started and burnt down several shops and establishments during this busy Eid shopping season.
