Dhaka Bureau Office of CMG Bangla on Sunday celebrated traditional Chinese lantern festival evening amid fun and festivities, reports UNB.
Director of Confucius Institute at Dhaka University Prof Yang Hui, Director of Confucius Classroom at Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology Professor Zhang Xi and other Chinese and Bengali teachers of the two institutions participated in the event.
Emphasizing the importance of cultural exchange between China and Bangladesh to strengthen their friendly relations, the teachers of Confucius Institute and Confucius Classroom expressed their willingness to cooperate with CMG Bangla in this regard.
Head of Bangla Department of China Media Group (CMG) Yu Guang Yue Anandi joined the event virtually from Beijing and delivered her speech.
At the event, the guests practiced Chinese calligraphy, answered lantern riddles and rendered Chinese songs.
Later, the guests and CMG Bangla journalists prepared special traditional food eaten on the Lantern Festival – Yuanxiao or Tangyuan, glutinous rice balls filled with bean-sesame paste and peanut butter, and dumplings or jiaozi – at a local restaurant.
Finally they enjoyed the traditional Lantern Festival dinner.
