Supporters of the ruling Awami League and BNP locked into a clash in the capital’s Mirpur on Thursday afternoon.
BNP alleged that a group of Awami League, Jubo League and Chhatra League attacked BNP leaders and activists while they were going to join a protest programme at Mukul Fauj ground near Mirpur-6 bazar.
Dhaka North city BNP’s former assistant general secretary Iqbal Hossain said leaders and activists of Awami League and its associate bodies attacked a large number of BNP men and barred them to join the rally.
The clash between the two parties continued till the filing of the report.
Police were trying to disperse them and bring the situation under control.
BNP called the rally protesting the recent price hike of daily essentials and the killing of patrymen.
