An on-duty traffic police official was killed when a passenger bus hit him in the capital's Mohakhali on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Aziz Molla, 45, was working as an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Mohakhali Zone of Dhaka Metropolitan Gulshan Traffic Division, reports BSS.
According to the Banani Police, a Bikash Paribahan bus came at a reckless speed and hit the ASI from behind near Mohakhali flyover, injured him seriously.
He was rushed to Rajarbagh Police Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 6:30pm.
Ashfaq Ahmed, Assistant Police Commissioner of Mohakhali Traffic Zone of Traffic Gulshan Division, said the bus was seized immediately, but the driver and the helper fled scene.
Later, the bus driver was arrested from Abdullahpur in Uttara at night, he added.
