Additional Inspector General of Police of Highway Police Md. Delwar Hossain Miah has said that strict control will be imposed if battery-powered auto-rickshaws enter the highway.
He made this statement while inspecting the Eid procession on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway in Kaliakoir, Gazipur on Wednesday afternoon.
The Additional IGP said, ‘Three-wheelers will be allowed to ply on feeder roads. It will become illegal once they enter the highway.’
He said, ‘More than 4,000 police personnel, 820 patrol teams, more than 300 check posts, motorcycle patrolling, drone monitoring and watch towers will be used to maintain discipline on the highway.’
Meanwhile, he has discouraged passengers from traveling on the roofs of open trucks and buses during Eid. He also requested drivers not to drive while tired, refrain from overtaking and drive at high speed.
Additional IGP instructed the owners not to let unlicensed drivers drive and to refrain from driving on Eid.
