Australia on Friday defeated Bangladesh by 28 runs in a rain-affected Super 8 match played at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua.
Australia restricted Bangladesh to 140-8 in 20 overs after a hat-trick from star pacer Pat Cummins, who bagged figures of 3-29 in four overs.
Bangladesh skipper Nazmul Hossain Shanto scored 41 runs off 36 balls while Towhid Hridoy smashed 40 runs off 28 balls.
This was the first Super 8 match for both sides in the tournament.
Mitchell Starc made early inroads after Australia captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and opted to bowl.
However, Cummins struck thrice in his last two overs while Adam Zampa also bagged a couple to help Australia restrict Bangladesh to a below-par total.
Australia made two changes to their side for their first game of the Super Eight phase, restoring Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood to the team.
Opener David Warner smashed 53 runs off 35 while Travis Head scored 31 runs from 21 balls.
Spinner Rishad Hossain bagged two Australians wickets.
