Youth and Sports Minister Nazmul Hassan on Thursday expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Razia Khatun, former footballer of national women's football team.
Razia, who was the member of winning Bangladesh women's football team of U-18 SAFF in 2018, breathed her last today at 4 pm at her own residence in Satkhira district due to excessive bleeding after childbirth.
In a condolence message, the minister said footballer Razia Khatun is a bright star in women's football. Her untimely death is an irreparable loss to women's football. Her outstanding contribution to the development of women's football in the country will be remembered forever.
He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
Bangladesh became the champion by defeating Nepal by 1-0 in the final of the U-18 Women's SAFF Championship held in Bhutan. Razia Khatun was one of the members of that team. As the champion, she received a felicitation and Taka ten lakh from the Prime Minister.
