Sri Lanka have posted 256-run target for Bangladesh in the first ODI of the three-match series in Chattogram on Wednesday.
After winning the toss Sri Lanka opted to bat first. Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando gave a flying start to the visiting team adding 71 runs for the opening pair. Tanzim Hasan Sakib gave the first breakthrough to Bangladesh picking up the wicket of Avishka Fernando (33 off 33) on the fifth ball of the 10th over.
He again struck to give the second breakthrough to Bangladesh picking up the wicket of Pathum Nissanka 36 off 28 balls on first ball of the 12th over. Bangladesh got the third success thanks to Sakib. This time he removed Sadeera Samarawickrama (3). Sri Lanka were reduced to 84/3 in 13.1 overs.
Charith Asalanka and skipper Kusal Mendis rebuilt the innings for Sri Lanka adding 44 (73) runs for the fourth wicket stand before the former got bowled out by Mehidy Hasan Miraz for 18.
Kusal Mendis and Janith Liyanage shared 69 (68) runs for the fifth wicket stand to keep Sri Lanka on the truck before the former got dismissed by Taskin Ahmed for 59 off 75. Sri Lanka lost their fifth wicket to 5-197.
Wanindu Hasaranga and Liyanage tried to rebuild the innings but their resistance did not last long and added only 24 off 24 balls before Hasranga got dismissed for Taskin Ahmed for 13. Liyanage also got out scoring 67 and Sri Lanka all out for 255 runs in 48.5 overs.
For Bangladesh, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Shoriful Islam and Taskin Ahmed picked up 3 wickets each while Miraz took one wicket.
